Job Title: Civils Site Manager

The Transmission & Distribution Sector is currently thriving as the Government looks to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to take advantage of the growth in the Renewable Energy Sector.
Omexom are a partner of SSE on the ASTI Framework and Pathway to 2030 and the Fort Augustus Project is a key part of this being the hub for a number of other schemes to feed into the Grid.
The Site Manager has a significant role and will manage all specified civil work on electrical substations ensuring delivery on time to the required standards. They will be the key figure in the daily management of the civil engineering aspects of the works and be the principle point of contact for civil sub-contractors and their agents.
The position will be based on site full-time although travel may be required to other locations to attend meetings or for short term cover other projects i.e., holiday/sickness cover. For a short initial period, you may be required in our Blantyre Office to assist with pre-planning.
Upon commencement of construction works the position will transition to a full-time site-based role at Fort Augustus substation. Hours or work shall normally align with site hours 0730-1800 Mon-Fri, 0800-1300 Sat. Occasional working outside these hours will be required to meet the requirements of the project.
They will assist the Construction Manager with delivery of the project and be a main point of daily contact for the various civil contractors engaged on site.
The postholder will be responsible together with the site team for ensuring site safety and ensuring quality processes are implemented for all works.

Responsibilities & Duties
Including but not limited to the following:
Acting as Omexom lead to the site management of works and ensuring the daily delivery of said works.
Be fully conversant with the Works Information and Scope of Works
Identify and liaise with the Construction Manager and Commercial staff on matters relating to the work.
Attend daily progress meetings and planning meetings.
Provide key information to the Construction Manager to include in the Project Managers reports.
Maintain a precise and accurate daily diary including but not limited to resources, program, weather, materials, H&S, issues, or any other information that the Construction Manager deems required.
Undertake daily management of civil subcontractors’ supervisors and sub-managers.
Ensure that the work is undertaken in line with the Omexom Project Delivery Process
Ensure that all site records, communications etc., are stored on the Omexom internal Information Management System
Ensure that site diaries are completed by all sub-ordinate staff and stored on the IMS system.
Overall responsibility for daily management of the works on site
Attend sub-contractor pre-start meetings.
Assist the Project Manager and P6 Planer in the weekly update of the Clause 32 Contract Program
Attend Omexom Internal Progress and Look-Ahead meetings as required.
Ensure that the works conform to the ‘look ahead ‘programs as deemed required by the Project Manager
Responsible for the delivery to the program and budget of the civil elements of the project
Manage a civil site engineer daily to ensure that all relevant drawings, RAMS, materials etc., are available to suit the work and program.
Fully manage and plan site activities to ensure safety, cost and quality are maintained.
Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures to ensure satisfactory completion of work.
Assist the Commercial Team in preparing applications for payment, additional works submissions and cost reviews.
Ensure all works is undertaken in compliance with the Project design and construction documents, including construction drawings, RAMS, and lift plans.
Working closely with the Project Team for successful project delivery
Deliver scheduled/unscheduled work safely, to time, ensuring quality standard in accordance with defined work scope (including principal contractor/non principal contractor
Engage with the sub-contractors ensuring resource levels on site in line with the Program requirements and project needs.
Assist in the management and control of all site-based orders and materials.
Undertake weekly site safety audits, record, and upload to IMS.
Report on all site non-conformances to the Construction Manager/Quality Manager
Set a standard in all aspects of site construction, H&S, and environment.
Ensure full compliance with the CDM Regulations
Consider all environmental aspects and impacts when preparing operations documentation.
Proactively manage health and safety issues and concerns, working closely with all departments to ensure safety by design, accident, and incident free culture is maintained.
Ensure all plant, and equipment are safe for use with appropriate in-date certification.
Complete all site related paperwork accurately and to time, including written risk assessments, site measurement and work record sheets.
Take responsibility for your team whilst on site to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient implementation of operations.
Appoint direct supervision for work parties.
Ensure site check sheets and ITP schedules are completed satisfactorily.
Provide a mentoring role to develop nominated staff for their training and development.

Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
The Site Manager should have a minimum of 8 years’ experience working on DNO substation sites operating from 11 – 400kV.
The Site Manager will also possess:
· A proven site management history with the ability to execute critical tasks in real time.
· SMSTS Qualification
· CSCS card or equivalent
· A sound knowledge of H&S and risk assessments
· The ability to plan works in the most efficient manner.
· The ability to manage and motivate staff.
· The ability to put the customer at the center of decision making.
· The ability to engage at a specific and detailed level with key tasks, evidenced by those tasks being executed in a highly efficient manner.
· Personal integrity, resilience and the robustness needed to operate in a fast-changing contracting environment.
