Purpose of the Position:
To support the Business Unit General Manager (BUGM) and Finance Business Partner (FBP) in managing the daily financial delivery of the Plant & Equipment BU, ensuring operational excellence and financial performance to meet, or exceed targets, year on year.
The Asset Manager will manage the Hire Desk team to ensure robust procedures are in place to drive asset efficiency, traceability and compliance across the business, using effective communication throughout. Working closely with the Plant Depot Operations Manager, the Asset Manager will be deeply involved with the CAPEX process, identifying the requirements for new purchases to support informed decisions, backed up with financial and operational justification for investment.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Accountable for the Plant BU Asset Management system, ensuring safety & regulatory information, transactional data and reporting is accurate, transparent and readily available.
• Ensure all Plant & Equipment Compliance is reported monthly, hosting team meetings and taking ownership of actions
• Continually driving compliance for all customers and ensuring all plant and equipment is in line with legislation and regulations
• Ensuring that Hire Revenue and financial outputs are monitored against budget.
• Producing clear and accurate scheduled reports for the Finance Business Partner (FBP) and Operations / Project teams.
• Identifying and reporting any variation against forecast revenue or overheads, with justification for this.
• Be accountable for ensuring internal stock utilisation is maximised in every aspect, reducing the need for external hires to projects and in turn maximising the financial returns and margins for the Business Unit (BU).
• Oversee Whole Life Costs of internal assets and highlight external hires which could be highly profitable assets and provide an opportunity for future investment to grow revenue streams.
• Identify aged, obsolete and underutilised assets which are no longer financially viable to continue within the fleet for disposal.
• Create and contribute to the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Justification / Business Case process through close collaboration with the Plant Depot Operations Manager for new assets.
• Assist the BUGM with new business opportunities to drive efficiencies and growth as the BU develops and diversifies.
• Explore new and emerging technology and innovative products, liaising and visiting the Supply Chain in the UK and overseas to continually improve and develop new Specialist Plant & Equipment within the industry, with a heightened focus on asset management and safety improvements.
• Conduct regular meetings with active projects to review, justify and agree on all costs associated with Plant & Equipment including hire revenue, damages, scraps and losses.
• Create an inclusive and positive safety culture by taking responsibility for the safety performance and expectations of the Plant Depot ensuring that safety always remains the main priority for everyone.
• Highly engage in the Positive Intervention process to ensure everyone returns home safe each day.
• Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business through demonstrating Omexom’s Values.
• Ensure that all Omexom Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures are adhered to, adopting a safe method of working at all times.
• To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.
Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
• 5yrs+ proven experience within a Transmission Over Head Line (TOHL) Industry, Plant Hire industry or within Asset Management.
• 5yrs+ experience within a Managerial role.
• In-depth knowledge & experience of Asset Management Systems.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of IT competency • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable criteria
• Safety Qualification IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Working knowledge / exposure to InspHire (Asset Management Software).
• Willingness to travel and work away from home occasionally to suit business needs.
• Computer literate – able to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint etc comfortably.
