Purpose of the Position
To support the design and delivery of mechanical, structural and civil elements for Overhead Line (OHL) transmission towers by contributing to design tasks, technical assessments and project coordination.
This role is aimed at recent engineering graduates or early-career engineers keen to develop specialist design knowledge in the overhead line industry within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Including but not limited to:
Assist in the preparation of design deliverables for OHL transmission tower projects, including overhead line design, structural analysis of towers, design of tower member strengthening, insulator set design, geotechnical desktop studies, interpretation of ground data, design of reinforced concrete foundations and producing design reports and drawings.
Support the use of software including PLS CADD, PLS Tower, AutoCAD and other similar design software.
Work collaboratively with lead design engineers to ensure compliance with design standards, project specifications, and health and safety requirements.
Contribute to technical reviews and quality assurance processes.
Ensure all design deliverables meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
Participate in internal and external design meetings, recording actions and following up on assigned tasks.
Maintain accurate design records and contribute to the preparation of project documentation.
Commit to continual learning and development by actively participating in mentoring, on-the-job training, and relevant CPD activities.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a technical engineering team. A strong appreciation of either geotechnical, civil or structural engineering is expected, along with the ability to communicate effectively, work proactively as part of a team and align themselves with the company values.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or a related discipline.
A strong interest in power transmission and geotechnical, civil or structural engineering.
Familiarity with engineering principles related to geotechnical, civil or structural or engineering.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
Strong experience with AutoCAD or similar design software is advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn.
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria
Internship or placement experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
Familiarity with Eurocode 1 (Actions on Structures), Eurocode 2 (Design of concrete structures) and Eurocode 7 (Geotechnical Design) technical standards.
Enrolled or planning to enrol in a professional institution such as the ICE, with a view to attaining IEng or CEng status.
