Reporting to: SHEQ Manager
Role Purpose
Site‑based role – Emmock, near Dundee.
This is a role that is site based at Emmock with some travel to the High Blantyre office (and other locations), where attendance is required at project and/or Business Unit meetings.
Omexom is a brand through which VINCI Energies undertakes its Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) activities. Omexom specialise in the design, supply, installation, maintenance and commissioning of electrical infrastructures for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, we require a SHE Advisor for our Fort Augustus Business Unit.
Responsibilities & Duties
Reporting to the ASTI Business Unit SHEQ Manager, the H&S Advisor will be responsible for co‑ordinating, promoting and advising the Business Unit’s project team on all Health and Safety matters, ensuring that the highest standards of operational health, safety and welfare are maintained at all times.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Act as a role model in his/her approach to all health, safety and welfare related matters, thereby supporting the business in developing the safety and quality culture within the project teams.
Participate in, and promote relevant Health, Safety and Welfare campaigns/initiatives.
Carry out incident/accident investigation and other inspections/audits.
Assist in the collection, monitoring and distribution of relevant Health, Safety and Welfare information and statistics for both internal Omexom and external client reporting.
Co‑ordinate the COSHH, Calibration & Inspection databases and facilitate provision to project staff.
Participate in Health, Safety and Welfare monitoring relating to Omexom and client procedures and practices.
Assist in training relating to Omexom and client Health, Safety and Welfare procedures and practices.
Represent Omexom at client forums, meetings and other events.
Monitor and maintain the Construction Phase Plan & Health and Safety File, Quality Plans and assist with the compilation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices for all construction projects, with specific reference to CDM 2015.
Assist in the preparation of lessons learnt and best practices and participate in Client/Project lessons learnt sessions.
Review subcontractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements and other Safe Systems of Work from a SHE perspective.
Attend HAZID and HAZCON meetings to aid in the identification of risk and their mitigation.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement. Regularly review safety and quality processes, identify areas for enhancement, and implement changes accordingly.
Chair and minute weekly Project HSE meetings.
The post requires a considerable degree of commitment, flexibility and adaptability to meet Health & Safety standards, client expectations and work deadlines within a demanding business. The jobholder will also be encouraged to develop within the role, taking on additional responsibilities and duties.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
It is essential that the jobholder is a focused self‑starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role. The jobholder must also possess:
A sound working knowledge of all relevant safety legislation, procedures and associated requirements (and their impact on day‑to‑day operational activities), gained from a safety management role within a utility / construction environment.
A NEBOSH general/construction certificate as a minimum.
Knowledge of electrical networks and associated plant and equipment, gained from previous relevant experience.
Experience in compiling project HSE plans and documentation.
Experience in managing compliance with CDM 2015.
Strong IT skills with the ability to utilise Microsoft Office to deliver relevant statistical analysis and reports.
Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence others at both an operational and senior management level.
A full clean driving licence.
Competencies
Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Experience in transmission and distribution network construction with particular reference to Scottish and Southern Energy Network’s procedures and systems.
Experience of interfacing with external customers to ensure our employees adhere to their safety procedures, policies, and work practices to the full satisfaction of the client company.
A sound working knowledge in the application and monitoring of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
HND / Degree in a relevant discipline and/or additional safety‑related qualifications or membership of relevant professional body.
