Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Purpose of the Position
The key function of this role is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, control panels, and motors. This role will include reading blueprints, using testing equipment to diagnose faults, and performing both routine maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure safety and proper function.
Responsibilities & Duties
Including but not limited to the following:
Install and assemble electrical plant, machinery, and equipment.
Install wiring, control, and lighting systems, including cutting, bending, and installing conduit.
Assemble parts and subassemblies using hand tools and other methods like brazing or welding.
Install safety and distribution components, switchboards, and control panels.
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and equipment, such as motors, generators, and circuit breakers.
Inspect electrical components for faults and replace worn or faulty parts.
Perform emergency repairs and troubleshoot electrical problems.
Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to guide installation and repair work.
Ensure all electrical work complies with regulations and specifications.
Adhere to strict safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications and Experience
A minimum qualification of ECITB Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems – Electrical or an equivalent Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Fitting of Equipment.
A valid ECS Health, Safety, and Environmental Assessment card.
The ability to work with your hands, use tools and machines, and perform physical tasks.
Good knowledge of engineering science, technology, and mathematics to understand technical plans and schematics.
Complex problem-solving and analytical thinking are needed for troubleshooting and repairs.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Be able to work under pressure, be a team player and have a high level of self‑motivation.
Possess the ability to use your initiative to ensure new skills and tasks are picked up easily.
The flexibility to work additional hours whenever required.
