Job Title: Civils Site Engineer – Overhead Lines

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civils Site Engineer or an experienced foundation operative looking to take the next step in their career to join our Transmission Overhead Line Business Unit within Omexom.
The role involves the supervision and management of subcontractors engaged in the installation of tower foundations and haul roads. Experience with transmission tower pad and column, piled and/or rock anchor foundations would be a distinct advantage; however, applicants with relevant experience in excavations, concreting, and rebar works from other industries will also be considered.
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will work on site as part of an experienced Overhead Line Construction team, setting to work and leading subcontractors to meet project objectives.
Initially, the role will be based at either our Dunoon or Melgarve projects, but future works may be located across Scotland; therefore, the ability and willingness to travel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to the following:
Ensure all works are conducted in a safe and correct manner, proactively reducing site hazards.
Conduct on-site monitoring and inspections on a routine basis, with active reporting of Positive Interventions.
Ensure all work is completed in line with Omexom’s quality standards and client specifications.
Complete project inductions and undertake setting-to-work briefings.
Issue documentation and permits (e.g. Permit to Dig, Plant Clearance Check Sheets).
Ensure works are compliant with all relevant designs, quality standards, and Inspection and Test Plans.
Ensure all installation records are accurate and complete.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date daily site diary.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Omexom’s and the client’s standards, policies, and procedures.
Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients.
Work as part of a team to ensure safe, effective, and efficient implementation of operations.
Ensure conformity to all Method Statements and Risk Assessments associated with the works.
Ensure that accidents, incidents, and near misses are suitably reported and assist with any subsequent investigations and close-out actions.
Communicate effectively with clients, landowners, and other third parties in a professional manner.
Undertake Site Manager / Project Engineer duties during periods of absence or on smaller projects, as required.
Qualifications and Experience
The jobholder shall be a motivated self-starter, possessing:
Previous experience within the construction industry with direct involvement in concreting, excavations, and steel-fixing works – ideally within the OHL or Substation sector.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans, mark out sites, ensure accurate measurements and placements, and check the accuracy of construction work related to levelling and alignment.
Good commercial awareness with the ability to monitor and accurately report performance against pre-determined targets.
Understanding of electrical infrastructure, safety rules/legislation, and CDM (UK) / Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 (ROI).
Good working knowledge of computers and relevant software, including Microsoft Office products.
