Job Description: Senior Protection & Control Engineer
Role Overview
The Senior Protection & Control Engineer will work as part of a design team delivering design projects from feasibility through to completion and handover. The role involves producing detailed designs for substation Protection and Control systems and providing technical support across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a design team delivering design from feasibility to completion and handover.
Producing designs for substation Protection and Control systems for Base Design activities (Single Line & Key Line Diagrams, Trip Matrix).
Preparing P&C panel General Arrangements diagrams, Circuit Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, and LVAC/LVDC SLD.
Performing cable sizing calculations, preparing Cable Schedules and Cable Block Diagrams, and designing mechanical & electrical interlocking schemes.
Providing technical support to the project delivery design team and project construction team.
Liaising with internal design team, client, and contractors as appropriate, including attending technical meetings with clients and subcontractors.
Calculating protection settings (mainly high impedance relay setting calculations).
Reviewing designs and making recommendations.
Attending a range of project group and technical meetings.
Attending FAT, inspections, and providing site support as and when required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (proven experience will also be considered).
Minimum of 12 years working experience in the Electrical Power T&D sector.
Good communication skills.
