Role Purpose
The Transmission & Distribution Sector is currently thriving as the Government looks to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to take advantage of the growth in the Renewable Energy Sector.
Omexom are a partner of SSE on the ASTI Framework and Pathway to 2030, and the Fort Augustus Project is a key part of this, being the hub for a number of other schemes to feed into the Grid.
The Construction Manager is a pivotal role and will manage all specified works on electrical substations, ensuring delivery on time to the required standards.
Initially, the position will be on a hybrid basis, although attendance will be required at other locations such as site, Perth, Glasgow, or as required.
Upon commencement of construction works, the position will transition to a full-time site-based role at Fort Augustus substation.
Hours of work:
Monday to Friday: 08:00–17:00
Saturday: 08:00–13:00
Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to suit project needs.
The postholder will assist the senior management team with delivery of the project and be a main daily point of contact for the client.
They will be responsible, together with their site team, for ensuring site safety and implementing quality processes across all works.

Responsibilities & Duties
Including but not limited to the following:
Act as customer lead for site management and ensure daily delivery of site works.
Be fully conversant with the Works Information and Scope of Works.
Manage and deal with change in accordance with NEC 3 contract requirements.
Organise and attend progress meetings; prepare and issue minutes.
Provide key project information to the Project Manager for reporting purposes.
Maintain a detailed daily site diary (resources, programme, weather, H&S, issues, etc.).
Line manage supervisors and sub-managers.
Ensure adherence to the Omexom Project Delivery Process.
Store all site records and communications on Omexom’s Information Management System (IMS).
Ensure subordinate staff complete and store daily site diaries on IMS.
Hold overall responsibility for site activity management.
Organise, lead, and minute subcontractor meetings (pre-start, progress, handover).
Assist in updating the Clause 32 Contract Programme with the Project Manager and P6 Planner.
Organise and lead internal Project Team meetings.
Prepare and issue “look ahead” programmes as required.
Manage all substation plant and equipment construction, maintenance, and wiring activities.
Manage a daily team of supervisors, engineers, and sub-managers.
Plan and control site activities to maintain safety, cost, and quality.
Follow all relevant standards, policies, and procedures.
Support Commercial Team in preparing applications for payment and cost tracking.
Ensure works comply with project design documents, construction drawings, RAMS, lift plans.
Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful delivery.
Deliver scheduled and unscheduled work safely and on time, in line with defined scope.
Plan and manage site resource levels based on programme requirements.
Manage and control all site-based orders and materials.
Undertake and record weekly site safety audits on IMS.
Maintain a Non-Conformance Register.
Attend community and stakeholder engagement meetings, if required.
Lead and manage site construction, H&S, and environmental aspects.
Plan, deliver, and record OPS daily briefings.
Ensure CDM Regulations compliance.
Organise and lead the Safe Contractor process.
Address environmental impacts in operations planning.
Proactively manage health and safety with all departments.
Ensure plant and equipment is ordered efficiently and on time.
Complete all site documentation accurately and promptly (risk assessments, measurements, work records).
Lead and take responsibility for safe, effective implementation of operations.
Appoint direct supervision for work parties.
Ensure completion of site check sheets and ITP schedules.
Mentor and support nominated staff in training and development.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 10 years' experience on DNO substation sites (11kV to 400kV)
Proven site management background with ability to execute critical tasks in real-time
Required certifications/competencies:
SMSTS Qualification
CSCS Black Card or equivalent
Knowledge of NEC 3 suite of contracts
Familiarity with contract programme systems (e.g. P6, MS Project)
Strong understanding of H&S and risk assessments
Planning and efficiency skills
Ability to lead and motivate industrial staff
