Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (HASWA 1974), NorPower, as your employer, has a duty to protect your health, safety and welfare, as well as that of others who may be affected by our business. NorPower must do whatever is reasonably practicable to achieve this.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Servicing, maintaining and repairing all company vehicles, plant and machinery to ensure safe working condition and conformance to relevant regulations
Maintain servicing and maintenance plans and associated records
Maintain reasonable stock of frequently used spare parts, oils, lubricants etc., and assist with record keeping and cost allocation
Limited hand tools and specialised equipment will be made available and maintained (where appropriate) by the company. These must be cared for and used appropriately for their intended purpose. Additional personally owned hand tools will be required and must also be used, maintained, and stored correctly
Comply with NorPower Health & Safety, Environment and Quality Policies, taking responsibility for your own health and safety, your colleagues’, and any visitors to the workplace
Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work environment, including correct handling, use and storage of hazardous substances in accordance with COSHH regulations and assessments. No new substance should be used until a COSHH risk assessment has been carried out and appropriate controls are in place
Ensure all waste arising from servicing, maintenance and repair is disposed of in accordance with current regulations and relevant records are obtained
Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and comply with safety rules/procedures, regulations, and codes of practice
Carry out daily/task risk assessments and ensure full understanding of tasks before commencing work, with appropriate controls implemented
Consult management if you become aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation
Consult management if you become aware of the misuse or lack of basic maintenance checks being carried out on any item of plant or equipment, including road-going vehicles and HGVs
Report all accidents and near misses
PPE issued by the company must be used in accordance with the results of risk assessments, stored appropriately, and maintained in good condition. PPE must be checked before use and any defects reported
All work tools, plant and equipment must be used correctly and safely in accordance with manufacturer instructions and training provided. Report any defects found
Employees must not use any plant or equipment unless trained and authorised to do so
Assist with other duties and tasks as appropriate for the needs of the business
