Job Description
Overview
As part of the Project Delivery team, the Assistant Project Manager will support the design, procurement, installation, construction, and commissioning of existing and new-build electrical infrastructure. Working closely with Project Managers, this role offers valuable exposure to the High Voltage (HV) electrical industry.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the safe, efficient delivery of works to the highest construction standards.
Support the execution of projects/programmes to ensure safety, quality, budget, and timeline targets are met.
Contribute to the commercial success of projects by ensuring profitable delivery at pre-calculated margins.
Liaise with Procurement and Contracts departments on pricing for materials and subcontractors.
Assist in managing employee performance, including addressing underperformance where necessary.
Ensure clear and effective communication with customers.
Support the submission of claims to maximise cash flow.
Assist the Project Manager with budget oversight and cost control, including timely reporting for finance and progress updates.
Help prepare periodic project progress reports for customer review.
Provide support with HR-related matters at the site level, including disciplinary issues, as directed by the Project Manager.
Essential Requirements
Third-level qualification in a relevant technical/engineering discipline, or significant experience in a similar technical field.
Strong understanding and practical experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Project.
Knowledge of safety and quality standards and procedures.
Basic understanding of budget management.
Ability to plan and deliver works logically and efficiently.
Experience in managing and motivating site employees and subcontractors.
Customer-focused approach to decision-making.
Ability to meet commercial targets and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Full driving licence and access to transport suitable for meeting role requirements.
Ambition to grow and develop within a project management role.
Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
Minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience.
Familiarity with HV (High Voltage) electrical systems.
Additional Information
This is a flexible, field-based role with regular travel required to project sites and attendance at progress meetings throughout Ireland and Great Britain.
