Job Title: Head Office Accountant
Purpose of the Position
The Head Office Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities for the Omexom UK & ROI Head Office departments and Business Units. This includes supporting month-end closing, preparing financial statements, and delivering detailed financial analysis in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
The role requires cross-departmental collaboration, adherence to accounting policies, and a proactive approach to process improvement within Head Office operations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis
Collaborate with departmental heads to prepare, manage, and update monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets for Head Office.
Analyse actual performance versus budget/forecast and provide insights into variances.
Monitor budget adherence and ensure deviations are explained and addressed.
Prepare quarterly financial forecasts.
Support department heads with detailed financial insights and reports.
Oversee the monthly Head Office financial process, including cost recharges and allocations.
Management Reporting
Consolidate regional/perimeter financial reporting and variance analysis commentary on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Collaborate with regional finance teams to summarise trends, issues, and opportunities on a quarterly basis.
Ensure timely completion of all Head Office reporting activities.
Perform checks and provide analysis on group reporting packages, assisting with ad hoc financial queries.
Cost Control & Compliance
Track and manage Head Office expenditure, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Ensure adherence to company financial policies, internal controls, and relevant financial regulations.
Other Responsibilities
Support special projects or finance initiatives as required.
Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems for accuracy and efficiency.
Contribute to the implementation of new financial systems or enhancements.
Provide mentorship and support to graduate accountants within the Head Office team, including contributing to their training and development.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certification
Professional accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or equivalent
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Skills & Competencies
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
SAP knowledge is desirable
Ability to influence and collaborate across departments
Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
General Criteria
Based at our Belfast office, with limited travel required to other UK & ROI offices.
