Head Office Accountant
Purpose of the Position: The Head Office Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities for the Omexom UK & ROI Head Office departments and Business Units. This includes supporting month-end closing, preparing financial statements, and providing detailed financial analysis in accordance with regulatory and internal standards for head office related activities. The role requires collaboration with other departments, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting processes. Responsibilities & Duties Budgeting, Reporting and Analysis: • Collaborate with departmental heads to prepare, manage, and update monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets for Head Office • Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and explanations for variances. • Monitor and review budget adherence and ensure any deviations are explained and managed accordingly. • Prepare updated financial forecasts on a quarterly basis. • Support department heads in decision-making by providing detailed financial insights and reports related to head office. • Oversee the monthly head office financial process including cost recharges and allocation. Management Reporting: • Consolidate regional/perimeter financial reporting and variance analysis commentary on a monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring any significant movements are fully explained. • Collaborate with regional finance teams to summarise key trends, issues, and opportunities that arise at regional/perimeter on a quarterly basis. • Ensure all monthly and quarterly Head Office reporting is done within the set timescales. • Provide checks and analysis of group reporting packages including assisting with ad hoc queries. Cost Control & Compliance: • Track and control Head Office expenditures, ensuring that costs are in line with the budget and identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements. • Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and relevant financial regulations. Other: • Support special projects or initiatives related to finance and accounting as required. • Continuously evaluate and improve financial accounting processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy. • Support the implementation of new financial systems or processes as needed. • Provide mentoring and support for graduate accountants within the Head office business unit including actively contributing to training and mentorship. Qualifications and experience Education and experience • CIMA/ACCA/ACA, Degree or equivalent accounting qualification Skills • Outstanding oral and written communication and organisational skills. • Attention to detail, focused on quality and accuracy, within a in a face paced environment, without compromising deadlines. • Analytical and problem-solving abilities • Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. • Knowledge of SAP preferable. • Ability to influence others. • Self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team. General criteria This role will be based from our Belfast office and will require limited travel throughout the year to other group offices within the UK& ROI.
